Breaking Into Italy: Producing for Geolier & Shiva
Germany was home base. Italy was the next frontier. Here's how it happened.
The Connection
The Italian music market has been exploding. Artists like Geolier and Shiva were pushing boundaries, and their teams were looking for fresh production sounds from outside Italy.
Through mutual connections in the European music network, we got introduced to Geolier's camp. They heard our work with Luciano and Central Cee and wanted that same energy but adapted for Italian tastes.
Geolier — Dio lo Sa
Working with Geolier was incredible. His flow is completely different from German or UK rappers — more melodic, influenced by Neapolitan music traditions.
The album Dio lo Sa:
- #1 on the Italian Albums Chart
- 7x Platinum certified by FIMI
- Over 500 million streams
Shiva — Milano Angels
Shiva's project was harder-hitting. Milano Angels needed that raw energy but with polished production. The single "Gotham" featuring Kid Yugi became a massive hit.
- #1 album in Italy
- Double Platinum certified
- "Gotham" went #1 on the Italian Singles Chart
Lessons from Cross-Cultural Production
Every market has its own rhythm, its own expectations. Italian rap has different cadences than German or British rap. You have to listen, adapt, and find the intersection between your style and what works locally.
The key is not to copy — it's to bring something fresh while respecting the culture.
